Thrown and Altered Forms with Moon Do Bang

From Moon's studio, this 8 hour series focuses on throwing, altering, and trimming vessel forms. 


Moon will teach his techniques for throwing a variety of forms by altering the form during

the wet stage and at the leather hard stage. He will demonstrate a long oval form, a jar form, and the fundamental cylinder form from which all forms are based. Steps for making and using his signature trimming tool are the focus of class #3. 


Class 1: Wheel throwing, altering, and cutting to see the thickness of a cross-section

Class 2: Wheel throwing, altering, and refining

Class 3: Making trimming tool, trimming altered forms from week 2.

Class 4: Final detail refining, shaving, and finishing.

There will be a translator as well as Kala, your host, to run the class.

Instructor

Artist, Educator Moon Do Bang

Moon is a ceramic artist who has been working with Porcelain for 20 years. His works are based on traditional Korean pottery. Moon graduated from Dankook University with BFA in Ceramics. He currently works in South Korea and runs a studio and gallery called Moondobang.
