This 2-hour workshop learn the fundamentals of how to mix colored clays using mason stains and use them to create engaging patterned compositions that can be used in functional, tile, or sculptural work. This workshop is for beginner to advanced levels, on Zoom with artist and educator Joanna Poag.
In Joanna's process there are no glazes used; her approach to color, shape and compositions will be discussed and shared to help you explore the wonderful world of colored clay, a deviation from the rich Japanese tradition of Nerikomi.
This Zoom workshop takes place in Joanna's studio (Rochester, New York, USA).
Questions are always welcome and a large part of this workshop will be Q&A overlaid with the demo.
Some students like to work during the workshop and others do not - this is your preference- we recommend watching the first time and then working alongside the recording of the video at your leisure.
All students will receive the Zoom recording to watch at their convenience after the workshop runs for 90 days (you will be notified through an email within 48 hours after the workshop runs) and the recording will be a link on your student dashboard.
If you have questions about the course or want to submit questions if you cannot attend the Zoom session, please email [email protected]
